Em 1979, realizou-se na Cidade do México uma exposição de moedas israelitas, ao mesmo tempo que em Jerusalém, capital de Israel, se realizava uma exposição de moedas emitidas pelo "Banco de Mexico". Para assinalar a ocasião, foi emitida uma medalha especial com duas faces. No lado israelita da medalha - um candelabro estilizado de sete ramos, um dos objectos notáveis tanto no Tabernáculo, erigido pelos filhos de Israel no deserto, como no Templo de Jerusalém. Foi escolhido como emblema do Estado de Israel restabelecido em 1948.
