The complex which takes up 21.7 ha and was constructed ca 1740 as a summer residence for Michał Bieliński retains the fundamental Late Baroque “entre cour et jardin” (between courtyard and garden) layout. In this form, it was bought by Aleksander Zamoyski in 1799. Its present appearance reflects subsequent layering of architectural styles from the reconstruction realised in the late 19th and early 20th century by Konstanty Zamoyski. In 1903 the count founded an ordinance around his family seat, covering over 7,600 ha.
The estate was owned by the Zamoyski family until 1944 when it was taken over by the State and transferred for use by various official bodies. One of the facilities created at that time is the museum, which changed its name in 1992 and now functions as the Zamoyski Museum in Kozłówka. In 2007 the estate was acknowledged as a Historic Monument.
