(en) Founded in 1868 by brothers Fritz (engraver) and Albert (guilloche maker), Huguenin was originally a modest workshop specialising in the manufacture of pocket watch cases. After acquiring their first balance press and producing their first medal in 1888, the company diversified its activities. Thanks to its innovative niello technique, Huguenin quickly gained worldwide renown, moving from handcrafted manufacture to an industrial process with the construction of its factory in Le Locle in 1899. The second generation, comprising three brothers, took over the reins of the family business, introducing new products such as shooting medals. In 1934, it was converted into a limited company under the name Huguenin Frère et Cie SA. The following years were marked by significant growth. In 1968, as the third generation took over the reins to celebrate its centenary, the company changed its name to Huguenin Médailleurs SA. This was followed by innovations such as the manufacture of coloured pieces, a merger with Paul Kramer SA in 1999 to become Huguenin + Kramer Médailleurs SA, and a union with Faude in 2002 to create Faude & Huguenin SA. The company closed its doors for good in 2022 after filing for bankruptcy.
