Ernst Petrasch

Ernst Petrasch (1915-2013) was a distinguished German art historian and numismatist, renowned for his expertise in Renaissance and Baroque medals. After earning his doctorate in art history in 1949 with a dissertation on late Gothic architecture, he began his career at the Badisches Landesmuseum (BLM) in Karlsruhe, where he served for over three decades. Petrasch was appointed director of the museum in 1967, a position he held until his retirement in 1981.
