Martin Allen (born 1956) is a British numismatist and scholar specializing in medieval and early modern coinage. He is the Senior Assistant Keeper in the Department of Coins and Medals at the Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge, and has contributed extensively to the study of English and European monetary history.
Allen has authored numerous works on medieval numismatics, including studies on the coinage of English monarchs and the economic context of currency during the Middle Ages. His research focuses on the interplay between coinage, commerce, and politics in medieval Europe.
Recognized as a leading authority in his field, Martin Allen has held positions such as Vice President of the British Numismatic Society and editor of the British Numismatic Journal. He has also served as President of the Royal Numismatic Society.
