Are there any different features on the observe or reverse of these coins form which you can distinguish these two coins? I know there is a minimal size and weight difference. I would like to know if you can tell these coins apart basically just from a photo.

See the 4 signs at the bottom they are different, they are probably the years, but using numbers I have not met before in the km723 the two identical middle ones I cannot figure out, but to make sense it must be 1996 (ad1939). The km724 is 1686 according to my knowledge and that doesn't make sense at all. We need an expert and I know a guy from there. I'll be back with his answers.

Maybe fine and bold????

Your images are those from numista, which I actually just used... don't you have one of the coins, so please send us your images. I suppose you have noticed that the km724 was only with the date 1989 (ad1932). Further we don't know the orientation of the 724, the 723 is medal!

The difference between km723 & km724 is basically the difference in the different styles used to write the years on obverse. In km724, number '9' is written similar to '6' (without tail). Whereas in km723 number '9' is completely different.

Yes, km724 is a single issue.
BTW both coins are medal oriented.
I wonder what happened to lhillman???

Sjoelund: I do not have a 1932 in either the KM 723 or the KM 724.

Nabingiri: There are apparently 8 ways to write a "9" in Nepalese:

So you are saying the KM 724 has a 9 written like the 7th one down that column, correct?

lhillman, you're correct. While the '9' in km723 is no. 5
Thank you. I would have never figured that out on my own.
