Chinese coin/ 1 cash? - needs ID please

Sorry I dont have more data, but my cousin got this coin and wanted me to ID it, man, Im terrible at Chinese and I tried a few recognition apps, no luck. He has no weight or diameter, but tells me it is the size of a quarter, so 24 to 25mm.

Id appreciate it if someone could help me narrow down the choices. the year would be great to know.
