I assume you're talking about this coin https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces17588.html but I'm not sure if you're asking a question about your coin or pointing out what you think is a mistake in the Numista coin catalog. Please be more specific and include pictures of your coin and weight/diameter measurements.
1896 20 pesata. Mp. M dia 22mm weight 5.3 g non magnetic edge reeded, portrait of alfonso facing left. Is my coin fake, sorry I cannot send picture at present time.
You do not have the 20 Pesetas coin linked above. I wouldn't even call it fake as there was obviously no intent to copy the 20 Pesetas coin. It's more likely you have this 1 Peseta coin. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6275.html
Without pictures of both sides we'll never be able to determine what you have.
Well, I was wrong. Even with pictures I can't figure out what you have. It seems to have the obverse of a 1 peseta and the reverse of a 20 peseta. It obviously isn't a real 20 peseta gold coin.
On 5th July 2021 I posted an enquiry regarding my 20 pesetas coin you thought it not to be a gold 20pesetas as it ,you thought had a1 pesetas obverse and a 20 pesetas reverse could this be an error coin , it weights 5.2 grms 22 mm dia, or is it a fake. I am interested in your thoughts.reg Robert.
Hello and welcome back after 1½ years. I believe it is a fake. A mint error (a mule) would be well known and I couldn't find any information about the existence of such a mule. Have you done anything to verify that it's actually solid gold?
Agreed, first step would be to verify gold content. Very generally speaking, the implied weight of a genuine gold coin of 22mm should be at least in the neighborhood of 8.5g depending on purity and thickness of the coin of course. Your example does not look unusually thin and is only 63% of the weight that would be typically expected from a gold coin of that diameter and thickness. Not even in the ballpark. Absolutely everything about this coin is a red flag.
