Thanks.  I think you are right on the year.  I saw it on another site.  

Written in the coin: 年十七國民華中

年 = Year

十七 = 70 (10x7)

國民華中 = Republic of China

Since the taiwanese coins are dated from the end of the Chinese Empire Era (1911), then 70 = 1981

Thank you Geison for that explanation.  Explanations like that are most helpful in educating me on how to get information for future coins.  Very much a learning process.  I have only recently become aware of Numista and its wealth of information.
