Not my question. If coins on Singapore are distributed in rolls, the packing machine might make round marks on the coins at the end of the roll.

No - this is a defined metal inner rim, not damage. This is clearly minted this way. I would like to know if it's a common occurrence, or another anomaly.

These photos are from NGC. Clearly there's something going on just inside the rim. My guess is some die deterioration is happening.
Even more evidence of die deterioration (cud over the F, die crack through the E):

If there are more of these, and this seems to be a widespread issue with the continued use of damaged or fragmenting dies by the Malaysian Mint not a once off, then surely we should list this as a variant?
