Schilling Sigismund III Riga : new variation in the legend ?

Dear all, I just acquired a Schilling Sigismund III Riga as described in the numista catalogue 1 Schilling - Sigismund III Vasa (Riga) - Duchy of Livonia – Numista. Unfortunately the date is not visible due to a ‘double strike’, it appears to be 16??. In the numista catalogue are described several variations of the legend and for each variation the date(s) that variation was used for.

The legend on my coin is : SIGIS : III : DG : REX : PO : D : LI    SOLIDUS : CIVI : RIGENS : date

This legend is not in the list of legends in the numista catalogue (unless I'm mistaken and in that case I apologize already, I checked it twice).

So my question is : Is this legend variation known in other catalogues perhaps and if yes does it allow for the coin to be dated ?  And if that variation in legend is not yet known, what is this then : a discovery of a new variation, a fraud, ????

Thanks very much for helping me

Clement

My coin is slightly heavier than the 0,85 grams in the catalogus : 0,92 grams, 18 mm, Billon

Haljak sells his both catalogues on amazon. They are still available. You need good bookshelf as they are bigger than world coins bricks and do not fit in regular IKEA layout. :)

Your coin should be described in part 2. I got only first part and can't check it atm.

If you are into collecting Livonian coins, maybe invest in those books.

Many of the features fit this 1609 example:  https://wcn.pl/archive/172866

Thanks for the picture. The difference is never big, but here you see a number of . In the legend where my coin features :

That is the case for most years, the actual text being identical.

It is middle age coinage. They are consistent at being inconsistent.

There are 317 known variants in his Lithuanian schillings.

And is it possible to tie this legend to a date (or several dates) ?

Depends on how fast 2kg book is shipped 500 kilometers.

I only have this one Livonian coin in my collection, so I don't really think I will order the catalogue, but is there no online source I could find more information on those Livonian Schillings and the variations in legends ?

Yes, you can look on the WCN archive, or the Onebid archive,  you can look on acsearch. you can look on MA-shops and see what you can find.

On the other hand, you have been shown a 1609 which has the same obverse lettering, the same reverse lettering, the same type of inner rings on both sides, the same shape of shield containing the keys.

The auction listing that was provided says that example was not the same punctuation as in the reference catalog they used.

In the Numista listing you can find another example of a 1609 with slightly different punctuation, so we know this 1609 subtype was struck with punctuation variants.

That gives an extremely high likelihood that yours is a 1609.

Haljak II got shilling ids from 1048 to 1130. some have subvariants with letter suffixes. He identifies them mainly by monogram, coat of arms style and how year is written. Full lettering details are not listed. Based on photos in catalogue offset strikes were common. Six varieties in 1609.

Coat of arms style puts your coin in 1605-1615 range.

Thank you all for your input!
