Please help ID this brass token/coin

I’m trying to identify this (likely brass) token. It’s 24.95 mm in diameter, weighs 4 g, and has a smooth edge. One side has a monogram I have tried to decode unsuccessfully and the other has Chinese-style (not actual Chinese) characters surrounded by stars. It doesn’t match any known coins, so I suspect it’s a fantasy or good luck token. Has anyone seen this design cataloged before?”

I have begun to dig into this lead.  It looks promising.  Hopefully Im able to isolate it's origins.
