Hi, 

 

I need help identifying this token.

Weight: 10.08g, diameter: 20mm.

 

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.

 

 That large lettering might be strange on a coin

so it might be a coin weight with a crown above to show it is official >

 Then to find yours with  VIII / XII  on one side - 

and a fancy bordered shield on the other side, and what country it is from … 

 

 

 

 Maybe it is Spanish - or elsewhere

with a castle / lion in opposite corners. Yours has different lettering of course.

You're right, it's definitely a coin weight. 

The question is whether it's French or Spanish. 

I found it in a field in Ireland a few days ago.
