Hi,

I've recently started checking dimensions of banknotes before adding them to my collection and I noticed this banknote seems to have a lower than expected length. It's 134/135 for me, but it's 136 in the description and wherever I search for in Google.

Could this banknote be made on different dimensions?

Thanks!

You are measuring a heavily circulated note, the material can shrink or expand depending on the material/damage. Plus there are tolerances for everything (not that large but they are there). A few mm off is nothing.

I guess it makes sense that it can shrink.

What about this one?

N#214284

it's supposed to be 129 × 53 mm, but mine seems to be 134 × 55 mm

We would need to know where the values for the dimensions come from. If it comes from a single specimen measurement similar to your first post that could be one possible answer or it is an average or goal size from a catalog with a larger variance in the issued notes. But unfortunately Numista doesn't have a proper source system for individual data points.

Banknote dimensions for noes of this era and earlier can frequently vary by a millimetre or two.
