So on a whim I decided to bid on the coin. I won. $38 plus $4.88 shipping.
Got the coin yesterday. It is not silver. Weight 22.1 grams. Measured density in water. Got 8.48 g/cc instead of 10.36 g/cc for .925 silver. Went on ebay and noticed the seller stated Returns: Seller does not accept returns. Figuring I would be in for a fight I started a return with this message to the seller:
Item was described as Bahama $2 coin KM#9. It is not that coin. Size, weight does not match. 22.1 g vs. 29.8g and 39mm vs. 40mm.
Item was described as Silver fineness 0.925. Should be density 10.36 g/cc. Density was measured (weight in water/weight out of water) as 8.48 g/cc. That makes it likely Cu-Ni not 0.925 silver.
Item was not affected on magnetic slide as a 0.925 silver coin would be. It behaved like a Cu-Ni coin would. Can provide videos if needed.
About 5 minutes later I got an email from Ebay that the seller had accepted the return request with this message from the seller:
Hey, I’m sorry about the confusion. I do not do water test density test. I could not find any information on the coin and it was not magnetic so I do apologize about the item being incorrect. I have sent you a label. Please return the item if you are unhappy, I tried to describe it the best I could but I suppose the 925 labels should not have been in the description. I hope we are able to resolve this quickly and you can bid with confidence again thank you.
He is sending me a return label and refunding to Pay Pal when he gets the coin back. I'll be watching if he puts it back on sale.
