Introduction:

Also known as Alba, modern-day Abla. Coinage can be divided into three phases, between the mid of 2nd and mid of 1st centuries BC.

The first phase of coinage consisted of units, halves, and quarters. The obverse of the units and halves features a portrait of Melqart with a club over his shoulder, while the quarters have an ear of wheat. The reverses feature a dolphin, tuna, or palm leaf.

The obverse of the second phase features a portrait of Vulcan with a conical hat and tongs behind his head, in the reverse is a bull. All coins were minted over coins from Ebusus.

The third phase of coinage features a portrait of Mercury or Vulcan on the obverse and his symbols on the reverse, caduceus or tongs.

Thank you.
