The guidelines for abbreviations buries the lede.  Instead of saying “no other abbreviations are allowed” at the top it puts that information most of the way down the page.

That statement should be at the top, in a separate paragraph. In italics or bold according to a recent message I received.

When I replace an abbreviation and include a link to the current guidelines in the edit justification I often get push-back. Recently, from a contributor and referee with almost a decade of experience who has added thousands of pages: “I don't see mm as not allowed...”

The most important point of that page should be very easy to find.

Hello,

I added the sentence “Any abbreviation which is not listed below should not be used in the Numista catalogue.” at the top to make it more clear.

However, please note that “mm” is part of the allowed abbreviations, standing for “millimeters”.

Except, in this instance mm was used as an abbreviation for Mint Mark -

I saw the request the other day and it was part of the Lettering section,

to show among the lettering where it was interrupted by the mint mark.

Thanks for the clarification. Indeed, “mm” should not be used as an abbreviation for mintmark.
And the lettering field should just reproduce what is written on the coin, without adding any other text (abbreviated or not).

I added the sentence “Any abbreviation which is not listed below should not be used in the Numista catalogue.” at the top to make it more clear.

I added the new sentence in the Spanish side.

The French side was not updated. Also there are more differences between the English and the French side in this FAQ article. See https://en.numista.com/forum/topic148081.html in the translators' forum.

Hello,

Thank you for the update. I apologize for not including the important detail of what “mm” I was talking about in my initial message.
