You'll have to request a change to the Numista Guidelines for that:
If the year shown on the coin is different from the year(s) when it was minted, select “No date” (ND) and enter the actual year(s) of minting in the two fields.
So what about the Maria Theresia thaler and tens of thousands of other coins listed on numista with date on coin followed by date of issue in brackets?

Specify the year shown on the coin in the selected calendar:
- The equivalent Gregorian or Julian date will be displayed automatically in brackets. All digits of the year should be entered, even if only the significant digits are present on the coin (for example, 1697 for 97).
- Note that the year written on the coin may represent the year of minting, the year of issue, or a different date altogether. If the year of minting is different from the year written on the coin, record the minting year in the Gregorian or Julian calendar using the “Change date” override feature. You may use this feature to record a range of years.
- 2500 (1957-1980) (2500 is the Thai calendar date written on the coin, corresponding to AD 1957, but the coins were minted without interruption until AD 1980)
- 1688 (1828) (AD 1688 is the date on the original die, but these restrikes date from AD 1828)
- 1935 (1945-1947) (AD 1935 is the date written on the coin, but the coins were actually minted between AD 1945-1947)
That line you quoted is referring to coins where the date on the coin relates to the commemorated event.
e.g. N#6082
The date on the coin is 1945 but this refers to the year Jersey was liberated and has nothing to do with the date the original die was created, date of minting or date of issue.
