I was checking the Js on my coins, and it looks like there’s possibly more different ones. Large Js, one looks thinner and the other, thicker. The small Js, middle one looks thicker, and the other two looks thinner, but the flick at the end looks a little different, but I might be mistaken with them two. All dated 1949.

I think I would attribute most of those minor differences to die wear and coin wear.  @Sjoelund  ?

Ah okay. If that's the case, I'll keep them but mark them as die wear on my list.

The BRD coins have plenty of varieties like these. There is even a catalogue dedicated to them, Variantenkatalog der bundesdeutschen Kursmünzen by Peter Neugebauer. I don't have my copy at hand now, so I can't help with more details.

I agree with rsirian1, there are two main types, small and large, and the rest are caused by wear and tear.

I don't know. I like to see Peter Neugebauer's book first. I have his book about euro variants but not his book about the marks and pfennigs.

Fair enough, at least I know now.

Only 5 000 were printed and as far as I have found out, all, all were sold, so you can only buy it 2nd hand for more than 70 Euro!

I have the Neugebauer book, but I am about 300 kilometres away from it! I'll be back at my bookshelf sometime in September or October!
