What are these? Are these some kind of straps sold to tourists?

Coins are sealed. I was going to grab but they are intact, unopenable without violence.

They look to just be part of someones album, I would just break them open myself.

Wow

Haven't seen those in a long time.

I have one of those from a long time ago.

The strips slide in and out of the album pages.

- I don't think they are part of an album. The strips are conical which means to properly store them in an album sheet, you have to alternately slide the strips in the sheet left and right. When you put those sheets in an album it means some of the openings are on the outside and half of them are on the inside, which is very difficult to pull out or slide in a strip. To do so you must take the sheet out of the album every time you want to pull out or slide in a strip when the opening of the strip is on the inside.

- I don't think the strip is sealed:

When you look closely you'll see the big coin is a little bit too big to fit in the pocket. You can see the edge of the pocket (red arrows) and where the coin comes out of the pocket (green arrow). You can also see there are two lips on the strips (on top and at the bottom). It's not completely clear from the picture but or you have to pull both lips open and then pull out the inner pocket or 1 lip is from the inner pocket and the other is from the outer pocket. Anyway, if those strips were part of an album there's no need for an inner and outer pocket, in that case the sheet is the outer pocket and you just slide the inner pocket in there. That's a second reason why I believe these strips stand on their own and are no part of an album.

Are you sure you're not confused with these?

Yes after closer inspection inner strip slides out like from those kind of album pages. Not sealed, but well stored anyway:)

Yes!

That's the one I have.

But original question remain: are these only built up by someone or were these kind of straps with coins for sale in some time?

I bought these from auction and not sure if I keep them like that or grab coins…

I can only give you my opinion. I think these were built up by some individual who wants to make a bit of money. The coins are not sealed in the pockets and look at the handwriting on top and at the bottom. That doesn't seem very professional. I don't believe these were composed in high volumes for sale by a company.

And the coins are not sealed so you can grab those you need and put them in your own collection.

Very reasonable, can not disagree, but those were set long time ago. These are anyway relatively old as its probably older than me turning old :D

Thanks, I grab few coins with no remorse.

Maybe they are simply old 8 pocket set holders. Like an older version similar to the posted ones for mixed sized coins.
