Hello,

please enter these images in the catalog, since they seem to be missing. I took the photos myself!

I think that Your coin is this one:

and not this one:

Am I right?

Hi,

when reading the descriptions of the 2 coins in the KM catalog, edt 8, I can see absolutely NO difference between the 2 coins...

The km631 has no images in the catalog, and the km836 has only one of the ice bear, which corresponds 100% to the km836 I sent the images of! In numismaster it's the same.

So we'll have to find a specialist on Canadian coins to get the answer, I believe?

In the comments field I see 631 is listed with a mint mark and date at top.  836 says no logo/mint mark and  lists the date at the bottom.
If I remember correctly, at a certain point the "L" mint mark was replaced by the RCM logo.
To me, everything about the image on 863 is wrong.  Add that to the fact that it is listed as non-circulating and the image is clearly very, very worn.

Hi again,

I've found this on internet:

http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/learn/2-dollars-5300016?lang=fr_CA

where it states and shows the two different coins minted for the 10 years anniversary.

My coin is definitely a km631 as stated by several members, the km836 has the date and mint monogram inverted.

By the way, when you take macro photoes of any "au" coin (original 4.5 Mb), they all look very, very circulated!

Thanks to everybody

There's some great information on that site.  Good find.

I thought there are only 3 circulation designs for $2 in 2006. Just 2006 top with logo on bottom, just 2006 on bottom with maple leaf on top and this one with 1996 - 2006 on it and the rays above polar bear. I have no idea which would be the fourth design. Not to mention, the title says 2009 ...? Numista now has four catalogue entries for 2006, two have identical pictures. :.
I think the 2009 was an "oops" in the title.  If you click on the link, you can see the two different 1996-2006 issues.  The bears are completely different.  Basically the image for 836 needs to be removed as it is incorrect.  The coin itself does however exist.

But, it was in a set, or something along those lines. It is not a circulation piece. PL I think from Specimen Set...

Mintage was limited to 40 000, I think only 36 000+ were minted. Here is a photo I found...

Hi, sorry for getting to this late, but there should be four different designs of the toonie from this year. The missing picture should have the double date at the bottom of the coin.

^ The above coin is the one that is missing, hopefully someone can eventually add a proper picture. Also, the coin did circulate. Strangely, I haven't managed to ever find it in circulation (I've found the other three) but the relatively low (5 million) mintage may explain that.

Hopefully that all makes sense, and if there are any other questions about coins in the Canadian catalogue feel free to message me as I'll probably see those way before forum posts.

Where is the source that states this one did circulate?

The 5 million mintage is for the double date on top with rays above polar bear.

I've only seen this one in PL on ebay and elsewhere. I will stick to my mintage in Specimen sets up to 40 000 theory. Maybe the mint can answer it?

according to my 2010 charlton catalogue it's 5 000 500 for the one with the double date at the bottom. However, it is very possible that there's a mistake or something because for the coin with the rays above the polar bear, it lists the mintage as 'N/A'

It's hard to know everything with all these modern varieties :(

Well, anywhere I look, the words Specimen set and BU set seem to come up.

This double date bottom date is very rare and hard to find. It showed up in some Brilliant Uncirculated sets with specimen finish and some Specimen sets.

This $2.00 coin is from a brilliant uncirculated set
