State Quarters vs. National Park Quarters

So I have collections of both of these quarters and I see them fairly frequently in circulation (though less of the national parks these days). I feel that they did a better job designing the National Park set. I just got my first uncirculated Great Smokey Mountain National Park quarter today and it is quite the work of art. Some of the state quarters are pretty lame in my opinion. My home state of Connecticut has a decent one but some like Arkansas are just a mess. Each National Park example has been artful and quite pleasing to the eye.

Anyway thoughts on these two sets and which do you like best?
I like the national parks more... they have nice details and also give me some curiosity to visit them...

I agree with you that most of the National Park quarters are better designed than state quarters. However there are few exceptions like Nevada State quarter that are awesome.

States quarters was my first coin collection. :8D

I remember  the charmant waitress in the rôle of the innkeeper, struggling to not sleep after an exhausting evening, when all clients have left after having finished their huge plates of full rack ribs. The music had vanished, faded away, only the the icy howling wind surfing on the lakes was  roaring loudly, permently, filling the tavern with a persistent rumor. She staggered behind the counter, sorting quarters with me after 2 in the morning, when the night is already so advanced that it was not worth going to bed, to find my missing quarters, somewhere in the Michigan, a while ago ...
the states quaters will always have a special place in my heart ...

What about the waitress?

Great story! It's funny because the coin that got me started with collecting was actually a delaware quarter given to me when they came out in 1999. so the state quarters got me started but the parks quarters are better...i hope they inspire young kids too!

The waitress. I've lost her christian name. She was looking good. Her tight leather vest plumped up her cleavage deliciously, and her short skirt showed off legs. So, after having sorted all the quarters of the cash register, I said with a nonchalant tone, like a french Humpred Bogard without hat, "Let’s grab a seat” and I pointed to a booth near the back corner. When she slid in one side, I fought my natural urge to slide in next to her, and settled in across the table. The waitress was there, smiling at me and bending over the table to give me a good view down her little tank top. “What can I do for you tonight?”
Wow, pretty direct, like a knock in my face.
"Isn't it a wonderful dark night?" I said
“Yeah.” She shrugged.
“Yes?” I said.
“Yes, what? Yeah, isn’t a proper answer.”
“Okay.” She nodded, feeling like a chastened child.
“Okay isn’t acceptable either.” My body didn’t move, but the energy around me shifted, becoming almost palpable. I took his neck with my right hand and I kissed her.
I'm wondering if I should continue the story 8.

You might want to get your genders sorted out first
Very common grammatical mistake for a french  :°
Unlike the French granting the possessive adjective of the third person singular with what is owned (his dog, her daughter), English agrees in gender with the possessor.

Yes I also had trouble in the beginning with French because sa chaise could in fact be his chair even though to an English speaker son makes more sense since it's masculine. So I totally get the confusion
Hey the state quaters were made and voted on by everyone. What do they say about to many hands in the pot, makes a bad soup. Were the Parks were make by arts people, people who know what they were doing.
It is, what it is, or is it.
I moved to USA from Serbia in 2008 and I fell in love with State Quarters and I wanted to have them all. At that time I worked in a restaurant with several foreighners and they all gave me coins from their countries. That is how I started collecting...

So, state quarters will have a special place in my hart as well but I do agree that National Park quarters are better designed.

In my opinion, designes of quarters are geting better every year. Some of the ugliest state quarters  are those minted in the begining of the program like in 2000 Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire.. and the best designes are from 2008 like Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii

so Park quarters look even better than 2008 state quarters...

Just compare those 2 of the Mout Rushmore

More proof you're French!
On the sate vs national parks debate, both get tossed into my "sell" pile with the same amount of disdain.  ;)
I only have one National Park quarter, in matter of fact that is the one i got as a gift in swap with yourself cnnote.

From looking at both sets, i have to say i definately like national park designs more.
