They go backwards, right to left, across the top of the first image, and end with the Year symbol, in front of face. Looks like on your picture just two numerals after the ruler name.
On that coin page I found, the years looked for go from 70 to 103, so as only two numerals (on your coin) then somewhere between 70 and 99 to look for on that second link.

P.S. That page with Japanese characters is, for Taiwan coins, only used for numbers not rulers. Perhaps, right-to-left, your coin is year 70 (= 1981), if the last three characters are these ...

Coincidentally, this page also has just now asked a question of a Taiwan coin with year 70 in the picture (though a 1 Yuan coin), and shows the 7 and 10 numerals on that list ...
