I got a lock box full of old coins from my grandfather. So far everything in the box has been legit. Some pretty nice pieces including a medieval bracelet and some old Nazi war stuff. I have started uploading the collection to this site. Still have alot to upload. Please help me identify the above coin. I am sure like most stuff he brought it home from WWII. I could clean it up to see it better but I don't want to ruin it.
Pictures are too small and too dark, but I improved them with Photoscape ...
and is probably Roman. What size is it, and can any lettering be seen?
Reverse seems to show people either side of an urn, and each holding a wreath in air.
Thanks. I can't make out any lettering with out cleaning it up which I don't know how to do safely. In person the "urn" and the people holding up the "wreaths" is very evident. I took dozens of pics to get good ones. Thanks for enhancing. It was in a small package with a 330ad Constantine coin. My grandfather seems to have kept things he brought home from war together based on age.
Ok so it appears to be the first link you posted. The Nummus - Constans VICTORIAE . It is almost definately this coin. Thank you guys. One question, I would like to add it to my collection, there are five diff boxes or types of this coin from the same year. All say "mint" not sure which box to check and the condition. The condition I thought was terrible but from what I've seen is actually pretty good compared to others I have found online. Thanks.
