Looks like copper, approx 3 cm diameter and approx 13.24 grams
Front looks like a crowned profile facing left
Back may have a crown over a lion (maybe one on each side), under the letters "INDEP" (possibly part of "Independence"?)
Perhaps a British token? I'm thinking of the later 18th-earlier 19th century "Conder" tokens. The bust is crowned, but it doesn't look right for an official representation, at least of an European monarch on an official coin. Perhaps others will recognize the silhouette.
Would you be able to read some more letters to the left of INDEP ?
re: "Would you be able to read some more letters to the left of INDEP ?"
Unfortunately not. It looks like any letters that used to be there have been worn away.
With this amount of wear, I'd expect the coin to weigh less than the original weight. How much would be a reasonable variance?

Well done! The size of approx 3cm is near enough to this 32mm ... https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces13475.html
and I guess a search for Independence would not find it,
as it has the French spelling Independance on it.
I remembered the slightly strange shaped bust and crown.
What a strange denomination this coin has.

Wow, just wow.... You guys are really really good at this! I had forgotten to come back and check if anyone had any ideas, and I had no idea you had solved the mystery!
This is great. Old (compared to a lot of what I come across) and a wonderfully different denomination in one coin.
I think we need an emoticon that does a happy dance.
Thanks!!!
