Hello everyone!

How do I distinguish between https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1207.html and https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces39201.html ?
The only difference I see is Brass vs Copper outer ring. Second one is also said to be 12-sided, but it is round on photo...

As you can't find KM# 444 in circulation, some collectors say "It would really rather seem that Tunisia KM-444 and KM-443 are duplication of KM-350 and KM-350a respectively. KM-443 and KM-444 should be removed."
Or, on Collecting World Coins : Circulating Issues 1901 to Present edition 2011, it's easier : the difference is on the reeded/segmented edge.

The coin in the pictures of the KM 444 definitely doesn't have a copper ring, with that it would be easy to differentiate those two.

You can so easily differentiate copper and brass by sight? I cannot.

Hi,

in the 11th edition of the SCWC the km350 has an outer brass ring, the km444 an outer copper ring!

Copper is reddish and brass yellowish, so yes, you can see the difference.

I've been all over internet and so far I have NOT seen any images of the km444, they are all of the km350!

I suppose the km444 doesn't exist, or it's extremely rare!

Thanks to http://www.chiefacoins.com/

Actually, the pictures here on Numista already show the difference!!
have a look at the stars on reverse
they are plain in km#350
and decorated in km#444
very simple!!

Additionally, according to http://www.chiefacoins.com/Database/Countries/Zine_ElAbidine_Ben_Ali.htm
"km#350: Bi-metallic; Copper-Nickel in center and Brass as outer ring.
km#444: Bi-metallic; Copper-Nickel in center and Brass-Nickel as outer ring"
which I think makes more sense
Also, it states the following about km#444:
"Note: The legends on this coin looks smaller than the KM#350 and the stars on the reverse side are decorated"
It also states that both coins have the same reeding style

Now, can someone confirm if it's true that one is round and the other is 12-sided?

and finally, why is km#350 not marked as commemorative here in Numista?

Hi AmerSalmeh,

thanks for finding that site. So now I know I have a km444 and it's ROUND!

Now I've been able to set up my documentation as follows

Great!
Note that http://www.chiefacoins.com is an authorized source for pictures to be used on Numista

Now I know too I have a km444, and I'm looking for the other type!

Hello.
For me there is only one type!
The star is smooth due to wear.
I want to see a 5 UNC dinars without relief in the star.

I think you're right.
See this coin still in relatively good shape, yet imbricated stars are already vanishing in the haze

Have anyone found any answer for this?

After going through a bulk lot of these, I found that worn-out coins of this design have smooth stars, and there were no “better” condition ones with flat stars.
I think it's a non-existent type that should be removed from the site.

From UCoins with ornamented worn stars, but not PLAIN just worn!(KM350)

I think the “versions” with “plain” stars are just worn km444, as already explained in this thread by other members.
