Christmas time!!! What did you get this year? I got packages from my friends abroad and opened them already, I know it's not Christmas just yet, but here's what I got. The '77 Dime is my first CC mint mark. And with the 1/2 cent, 2 cent, 3 cent, half dime, 20 cent, got all the oddballs this year so I finally have every non-gold US denomination!
For actual Christmas day I'm travelling to my parent's place, and my only gift request was one of the Kazakhstan Tantalum coins. Also hopeful my brother living in Kyrgyzstan will send me some coins or bills from there. Fingers crossed...
What did you get for your collection this holiday?
This thread is a bit early, hopefully I will get coins, but my wife doesn’t like to get me coins plus she doesn’t know where to get them.....
what does your username stand for? I certainly like a good redneck, we could use one around here!
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!
anyway, it’s a toss up to which one is the best state, plus NC is in the running!
I lived 40 min north of Nashville for a time, loved the countryside, and the southern culture that is still alive there. I miss it.

Citação: "redsmithstudios"I thought so, but your profile says tenn.

I've lived in a lot of states, but born and raised in South Carolina so that's home

lots of states, are you in the military?
what part of SC are you from?

I've been buying my own presents after I pocketed a healthy sum for selling my coin collection, so far I've got a kayak and roof rack for my car to carry it, some frisbee golf discs and carrier, and some power tools. Plenty more sitting in the bank until I decide what to spend it on. When I've got enough toys I might buy a couple of gold coins as an investment.
I suggest LMU gold coins. My 20 markkaa gold coin is so beautiful I cannot even sell it.
I own many beautiful items but I could almost say that the gold coin is the most beautiful. Ps. The coin has been put into that protector afterwards. Its XF!
Citação: "redsmithstudios"Gold coins, really? For an investment? Ha! Your just itching to get back into some coins, but now instead of silver your switching to Gold!
Yeah, because Gold is worth so much more, generally more of the coin's value is bullion than numismatic value. If you're buying for investment you want something that you can easily buy and sell for the bullion value.

I added you something special on the right top. I think they are some kind of hippos.
Wow, a true 25€ collector. You know the moomins? Weird things. The finn-swede who made them intended to use them as a thing to make her brother angry.
I got from my grandfather a lot of old banknotes. One '70s portuguese note; 3 US dollar notes; and a lot of old brazilian notes, the oldest is a manually signed cruzeiro note from the "Estado Novo" era (president Getulio Vargas) and the newest is a cruzeiro note from the time of president Fernando Collor (1990), with many notes from between the '50s and the '80s.
And I gave him a half dozen coins, including a silver 1000 réis 1859 (D. Pedro II).
No coins in my Christmas presents; I'd rather my friends spend their money on something else I want rather than getting ripped off on something they know next to nothing about.
So it's phone accessories and clothes and food for me. Not that I'm complaining.

Also gold is more portable. After collecting a kilo of silver the collection starts getting too heavy.

this is also why I don’t get coins. Although my wife did set up an account and bought me some awesome conder tokens from Phil nightingale onetime, did the whole thing under my nose, I was quite surprised and happy!
So if someday any of you get a message from username, “someluckyguyswife” you can trust her, just don’t rip her off.

I did get the Kazakhstan tantalum coin! It's not as purple-ish colored as I expected from the pictures online, but really cool looking.
And my Grandmother gave me a pair of Delaware Memorial Bridge Tokens she found when she moved this year, can't find much info on them and they're not in the Numista database so I'll have to create an entry. What I've found on google, about 1,000,000 of them were made in 1990 or 91. Not worth much, but I think they're interesting.
