10 Francs - Congo - Democratic Republic

6 publicações
Hey guys,

I recently found two of these 10 Francs from 1965 in a big bulk at a flea market:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces8868.html

Numista lists that coin with 'most recalled and melted' so I'm questioning how lucky one can get finding two of them at once.
Compared with the specs they're both about 0.1 g lighter than listed. Does that already qualify to raise suspicion or does anyone see something being off when checking my pics?

Edit: NGC actually lists this coin at 3.27 g (opposing 3.37 Numista lists it at)

The NGC "World Coin Price Guide" says: "Many recalled and melted, but large numbers still remain available to collectors, mostly in Brilliant Uncircluated grades."

It is not unusual to find two or more of them together, when you do find them. I would not call them common, but they are available. An impressive design, on a nice size coin (half dollar size).

I have six of them in stock at this time.

Krause does not recognize the two varieties listed in the Numista catalog (which probably came from Schon).
Don't think its a rare coin as NRI on numista itself is 18,may be all the coins that were with the Mint and national banks were only recalled and melted.
coin collector.....
Consistent with what the NGC price guide said, I have seen very few of these that have been circulated. The mintage was huge--estimated as 100 million pieces.

There was a monetary reform--and new coin denominations--in 1967, so the coins would not have circulated for very long.
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just be happy I found two at once.
