Side question, is "redneck" an insult or term of endearment in the USA? I've seen a few selectively-offended folk getting their knickers all up in a twist over it.
Depends where you're from, and what kind of lifestyle you enjoy. I live on the TN/AL border, but you call someone in Washington a redneck they'll probably get mad. As for me, I hate cities, I think the city of 9,000 people I live in is FAR too big and restrictive and can't wait to move back out to the country. I drive a big ass lifted jeep, big truck, and motorcycle. I started shooting guns when I was 5 and "owned" my first gun when I was 10, although I only have 13 guns right now, I really need to spend less on coins and buy a few more guns already. Also I drink WAY too much beer and moonshine like most of us rednecks do. Being a redneck is a style of living, and a freedom that we enjoy to just be ourselves and not be constrained by rules. Rednecks also like to wear cheap and dirty clothes, drive old trucks, and BLOW SHIT UP! Basically, don't give a shit, just have fun.
Don't think it means any of us rednecks are smarter or stupider than the average person, I have a masters in computer engineering and work with our missile defense programs. But yeah there's plenty of dumb idiots as well, we're about as evenly distributed in intelligence as any other group of people. (although maybe a bit on the dumber side on average, but don't stereotype)
People that live in big cities and want to act all rich and fancy, yeah to them we look like uneducated hicks, and if you call one of them suit wearing city slickers a "redneck", yes they'd be upset.

Thanks for the answer, it doesn't sound like the sort of lifestyle I'd enjoy but you clearly take pride in it! I'll chalk the people getting conveniently offended at the word "redneck" up to them being virtue signalling pricks.
Honestly getting quite excited for posting here tomorrow, Hong Kong (alongside Ceylon, North Borneo, Sarawak and the Straits Settlements) is absolutely my favourite East Asian British colony to collect from. I'm planning to post the coins I did from the last "How far Back can we go?" thread, so I can save the others for your own "Coins by year" thread once we get back to the late XIXth century. I don't remember if we've ever had a slow thread like it for coins by year thread before.
Citação: "CassTaylor"*rubs hands together* Here we go! Dedicating this post to a Numista friend from Hong Kong, @SquareRootLolly!
1863 Hong Kong 1 Mil - Victoria (Type 1 Reverse)
1891 Hong Kong 20 Cents - Victoria
1904 Hong Kong 20 Cents - Edward VII
1894 Hong Kong 50 Cents - Victoria
1905 Hong Kong 50 Cents - Edward VII
1868 Hong Kong 1 Dollar - Victoria
One of the most commonly faked coins by Chinese forgers! So it's my favourite British Empire crown.
1909 Kiau Chau 5 Cents - Wilhelm II
I was hoping someone would have the 10 Cents (there's only 2 issues in Kiau Chau) but here's my own, naked example of the 5 Cents. I'll have to take better photos of it soon.
1952 Macau 5 Patacas
Lustre and eye appeal all around! Macau's not as interesting historically or numismatically as Hong Kong IMO, but I'm also looking to do a colonial type set of it's coins. Should be easy since it's just 1952-93, as opposed to Hong Kong's century and half (1863-1993) of colonial issues.

Citação: "WHATEVERR"They all look great, i'd be so worried about buying a fake though, which scares me away from almost all East Asian old coins
They're really not so bad once you get to the point where you can tell 95% of fakes with a cursory glance. Start out by buying old copper machine struck coins, like these, and then move on to the less-commonly faked small silvers.
As for the big old silver coins (anything above the size of a shilling), play it safe until you get to that threshold of fake-detecting mentioned above; pay through the nose for a real one instead of getting ripped off on a fake.
@Zac
Those coins are actually tokens/exonumia rather than bonafide issues (according to Krause's Unusual World Coins, anyway), but I'm more than happy to let them stay here.
I just got a Cilician Armenia coin from ebay that arrived today. Didn't actually figure out where it was from until just now, but I saw it for $10 searching for something else and it looked cool, especially with combined shipping. One day too late for this thread though!

One or two days late doesn't matter, feel free to post in the reply I quoted here, if you're late (within reason of course!).

Thanks! Plus my only coin from Columbia to make it a legitimate post
