I have a couple of the 2006 coins, comparing them to my 2005, similar to Position A and Position B on the modern £1 coins, the edge inscription on one coin appears upside down when I place the coins on top of one another. Is this a variety or are edge inscription differences a given?
As a given. The edges are put on first, then later the obverse/reverse together. Once the edges are on, they go randomly in a container which feeds the press, so it is either way in that they go.
