Never have been off the continent, unfortunately.
I've been fortunate enough to have travelled reasonably well throughout Western Europe. Some of the countries are really a bit of a cheat because I did a Baltic cruise so only spent a day in Russia / Sweden / Finland / Estonia / Denmark. Luxembourg & France are countries I've more travelled through than spent any real time in.
Not highlighted on this map, also been to Gibraltar for the day. It rained so badly that the cable car was closed & some of the lower parts of the tunnels were flooded so closed too. Just like being at home!
But all the rest (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Poland, Spain, Italy, Vatican City, Malta, Greece, & Turkiye), I've been fortunate enough to spend at least a week (often two) in them. Poland I've been to four times, all of which were two week breaks in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Gdansk/Gdynia, and Krakow.
Did have visits to Bulgaria & Romania on the cards but they fell through & circumstances prevent that at the moment. Quite fancy a trip to Austria & Norway at some point too.

Within the UK itself, I think I'm reasonably well travelled - For these ones it's either stayed within the county OR visited repeatedly - rough minimum of 3 visiting days. Just travelling through (or stops on travelling through) doesn't count here. As you can probably tell from the map, I'm more of a country bumpkin than a city slicker! Hence why most of the visits are to the sparser parts of the country.
Have enough of dealing with people during work, don't want even more of them on my time off. 😛
I rarely venture any further south than the city of York. In fact, I use York as the divider between the North & the South. It's fun standing on the city walls looking out at those hideous, fiendish barbarians of the south. Barely recognisable as humans if you ask me.
Always seems to wind up a lot of folk, especially Leeds/Manchester/Liverpool/Sheffield. They call themselves Northerners? They wish. They're midlands at best. If I'm feeling generous (which is rare), I might might let themselves call themselves “Wannabe northerners”.
With my recent trip to Azerbaijan, I’ve visited 25 countries now (not counting airport layovers or pass throughs)
its still a wide world for me though. I have not been to any country in Africa, central or South America Besides substantial regions of Europe and Asia. The world is wide Indeed!

That map reminds me of Tripadvisors “Cities I've Visited” map. I also remember the sadbess when it stopped working. Is it up and running again?
I have now updated my map there are well. I don't quite understand the count, as it now says “Show all cities (559)” and “Been (557)”. How can it differ in 2?
Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, IOM, Jersey, Guernsey, France, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany (inc. East Berlin before the wall came down) , USA, Spain (inc. Tenerife), Andorra, Portugal, Italy, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Austria and Greece (inc. the Island of Crete).
My family did some weekend camping trips in Canada. The first time was in 1991, crossing from Detroit into southern Ontario. We camped at Wheatley Provincial Park, and visited Leamington, Point Pelee, and Fort Malden. We returned in '97, but I don't remember much about that trip except the toonie.
In 1992, while on a family vacation in New Mexico, we briefly crossed into “old” Mexico. We parked the car in Columbus, NM and walked across the border into Puerto Palomas. We spent an hour walking around, looking at souvenir stands, and then walked back. I expected the border crossing to involve paperwork, but the guards simply waved at us encouragingly. I bet you can't do that anymore.
I spent three weeks in the UK/Ireland with a student program called People To People in the summer of 1995: London, Hertford, Edinburgh, Anglesey, Dublin, and Cork. Highlights included the House of Commons, the Tate Gallery, Madame Tussaud's wax museum, St. Albans Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle, New Lanark, Gretna Green, Dinorwig Power Station, Conwy Castle, the Great Orme Tramway, the library at Trinity College, Waterford Crystal factory, Blarney Castle and Killarney National Park.
I spent a few days in St. John's, Newfoundland for work in 2007. I didn't have much spare time, but did get to visit Signal Hill and the NFLD Railway museum. I brought back as many stray coins as I could find.
I did some foreign travel to Asia for work in 2016, when I spend a few weeks cumulatively in Busan (South Korea), Saipan and Singapore. (I also changed planes in Beijing and Tokyo, but those don't count because I didn't leave the airport.)
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

While in Malaysia, try eating durians and mongostees, the king and queen of fruit respectively. In this country, some supermarkets sell those small size mongostee for $1 each.
First encounter with mangostees was in Pallowan on our way to El Nido (a large island, part of the beautiful Philippines). They were delicious akhai. My wife kept telling me I had to try durian on my first trip to the Philippines but it wasn't in season. We then got our chance in Pattaya, Thailand (+ BBQ alligator which was delicious) last February. They stunk a bit but were delicious & its a good idea to eat them outside (banned inside our hotel). I also managed to snag a 20 & 50 Baht in UNC (which is rare for me as I usually get high denominations in UNC & prefer spend these) while in Bangkok.
My last trip was to Thailand & to visit some other islands of the Philippines (Bohol: to see the tarsier which is featured on the back of the 200 Peso note). Oddly enough I got that 200 pesos on my way back to Canada after my first trip to the Philippines in 2018. My super niece gifted me a 1000 pesos (polymer) on my most recent visit last Feb.
I’ve mostly traveled around Western Europe, and Italy definitely stood out for me. The Ligurian coast especially has this upscale, laid-back vibe that’s different from the big cities. I remember going for a long weekend and just wandering around, enjoying local food, and lounging by the sea. One of my favorite stops was Santa Margherita Ligure. It’s got that classic Italian coastal vibe, with pretty views and some great spots for seafood and walks by the water. If you get a chance to explore the Italian Riviera, it’s worth adding to your list.

Since the last time I posted, visited a few more places in Canada, France and added a new country - Iceland. i might visit a couple new places in India when I’m there in a couple months.
next year, Taiwan is high on the list. Will likely visit a new country/countries in Europe. Perhaps Norway or Finland-Estonia

This is such a great idea, it made me think about how much of my own country I have been too, and there is quite a lot I have not seen - not always obscure areas like Fiordland and Top of Mountains, but some major cities like Gisborne and Invercargill. This map of my country, I have drawn a line around the parts I have been to. Beyond this line (To the left of it) are parts of New Zealand I have never been to.
Its mostly left of the line in the South and right of it in the North, but have done yellow shading to do areas I have not been. I did make one mistake, some red lines on Cook strait but have done the ferries. Stars are on Auckland, which is where I lived 1997 - 2005 and 2007 - 2024 and on Christchurch 1976 - 1997, 05 - 07 and since 2024.
It enlarges. On the plus side I will go to Invercargill next on the train (At bottom of South Island).

I've lived in three countries: Hungary, Russia (born there) and China (currently studying there)
And been in these countries: Austria, Czechia, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Italy, San Marino, Vatican, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, and UAE. I've also been to Hong Kong and Macau. Visited Macau for the first time just a month ago.
I also technically been to the UK. I left the airport for about an hour during my transit there.

Almost back from my Vacay. Little hiccup in New York and now I have to figure out my new plan to get back to Toronto.
Spain was great and country #26 for me. This time I stick with the region in and around madrid & Barcelona. I’m sure I’ll be coming back again many times over
I just came back after a week's sailing in Greece. Second time in Greece for me, but all new places. We left the port in Kos and sailed to Nísyros, Tílos, Chálki, Nisís Sesklí, and Sými.
In a month I'll be going to Portugal, which will be my 46th country. 😊
