I only visited two countries; Austria, and Spain. Both for holidays, when I was young - and for the Austria holiday the aeroplane landed in Germany (then coach for the last part to Austria), so technically I have been on German soil I guess.
It's a bit harder for me. In Europe you can get in your car and drive to another country. Being a small island in the middle of the Pacific thousands of kilometres from anywhere it's pretty expensive to rack up a long list of countries. I've been to Australia several times and to FIji, and New Zealand of course, that's it.
around 93 countries.
Every single country in Europe, except Kosovo and Belorus;
most of the Arab World and Far East, India, Australia + 4 countries in America.
South America and SubSaharan Africa are my black spots
South Africa
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, UK
Mexico, USA
Aruba, Curacao, Canary Islands
UK, USA, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, France, Monaco, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, (West) Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey ... I think that's all. Mostly on vacation but I lived in So. Cal. for 6 years in my 20's and that's when I covered North America.

Born in Serbia, lived in USA and Czech Republic
Visited Spain, France, Monaco,Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Poland, Bosnia, Montenegro, Hungary, Romania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey and Ecuador Also, I visited about 25 different states in USA.
Live in England so the first country I went into after that was Scotland, then have been to Portugal, Greece (Ionian islands) and Spain. Small list but as a child I never went on holiday so have some catching up to do ! Plans are Spain again this year and a drop into Gibraltar. Then Florida next year !
I haven't had much opportunity to travel so far, but here's my list:
- Canada of course
- USA (briefly and it wasn't much fun)
- Austria (lots of family there)
- Germany
- UK (family here as well)
- Iceland
- Quebec
Australia, French Polynesia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.
Don't laugh Neil. Its more than likely that I will be fetching some over for a in person swap with everyone's uncle Phil ! He's like a numismatic tourist attraction !
Canada (clearly), USA (including US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico), Mexico, Belize, Honduras (Roatan), Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Haiti, Sint Maarten and Saint Martin ( both French and Dutch sides of the same Island), Antigua, St Kitts, St Lucia and Barbados.
Bring plenty of "coin money", there are more coin dealers per square mile here than anywhere I've ever seen. On the weekends there are three huge fleamarkets with dozens of coin stalls and if you're really lucky an estate sale or two for a deceased coin collector. It's a coin collector's paradise and far cheaper than eBay.
Ybor City (nightlife for perverts and weirdos) is 30 minutes away, same with John's Pass, Treasure Island, Busch Gardens, Tarpon Springs and Crystal River. Gulf coast beaches are two minutes away, don't wear speedos though. If you want to wear even less Caliente is a short drive away. We went on a tour with some friends who own a cabin there..... saw a guy wearing nothing apart from a colostomy bag so I've never been back.
We may have already escaped by 2015 though. We are going touring the Cumberland Plateau region of Tennessee at the end of March, there are several land parcels we are interested in buying. We will continue to live in Florida while we clear the land and build a house so if we're still here you are more than welcome to sleep anywhere you can find a space.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Aside from Canada, my home country, I have only been to two others: the United States (Florida x2), and France (the islands of St. Pierre et Miquelon just off the coast of Newfoundland). I am pathetically untravelled.
I plan to correct this as much as possible over the course of my life!! Desired/necessary stops include the UK, Ireland, Rwanda, and the UAE.
EDIT: Just wanted to note that I am actually fairly well-traveled within my country. I have been all over Newfoundland except up at the tip (St. Anthony / L'anse aux meadows) and down by Conne River; to a few cities/towns in PEI such as Charlottetown and Summerside; to Ottawa, Toronto, and Guelph in Ontario; Edmonton and Calgary in Alberta; Montréal and Québec City in Québec; Sydney and Halifax in Nova Scotia; and New Brunswick.
A six year Numista absence makes the heart grow fonder... ?
New Zealand from top to bottom, I have stood at the Cape and watched 2 oceans join, and Bluff to watch the oyster boats re-enter the harbour at sunset. Cruise ship to Tonga and the Islands and of course Australia (Brisbane), but the best of all was Japan (Tokyo, Okinawa) 10 days of magic. Plus in the next few years maybe Canada, USA, and a few others if I am lucky.
Oceania: Australia Europe : Belgium, Luxemburg, Netherlands Asia: China, Hong Kong, Indonisia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand Mid-East: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates North America: Canada, United States
I hope to travel to Latin America and other countries in Europe in the future .
Australia, south Africa (twice), Greece, spain, Netherlands, Lanzarote, and several Greek Islands, France, over the border to Scotland and sailing around the Caribbean Island hopping.
Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, North America, Canada, Nepal. My homeland is India! Living nestled in the ancient part of India, surrounded by Naxalites, Mountains and constant Political upheavals! The only way out is 'Online'!
I wish we visit to all countries we have collected coins from. So far, black dots on our numista dashboard map mark all countries visited. One dot in the white bottom of map is Antarctica. But in fact, this is not a country and this "place" has no coins.

Shame on you, my Finno-Ugorian Cousin
Last time I was in Helsinki, I met a very gentleman just out of the Sauna, who greeted me with warm Hungarian words in that lakeside hotel-venue asking: "How is your soul, my friend?" - soon I got introduced to him, he was the Bishop of Helsinki...

[excuse my religiuos ignorance, not the white big one, but the one to the right on the hill, if you are having your back to the harbour in the chilly wind ]
Imreh - nice story, the church is Uspenski Cathedral (orthodox). Finland is funny place as you can see former presidents in your grocery store, rock stars bicycling in city center and famous actors or hockey players in your local pub. Of course they are usually known only at national level, but it is hard to imagine American presidents and pop stars doing things same way withouth problems.
Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Greece (the island of Corfu), France, Liechtenstein, United Kingdom (only England, I'll visit Scotland this year! ), Denmark and Austria. In total 11 countries.
Not bad for a 16 year old, I guess?

Born in Aruba, lived some years in Costa Rica.
Visited Austria, Belgium, Bonaire, Colombia, Curaçao, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Sweden, US and Venezuela
Only been in England, Wales and Scotland since the kids were born. Previous to having children I've visited Ireland, France, Cyprus, Malta, Zakynthos (greece), Majorca and Corfu - beach holidays mostly.
England
Wales
France

USA (Miami and surrounding areas, Florida)
And then my daughter arrived and grounded me :(
I strongly desire to visit the home of my recent ancestors, Germany.
Oh, I should qualify my visits by saying I have visited the REAL countries, not on package tours in an insulated tourist camp, but local bed and breakfast (or visiting and staying with relatives) living with and as one of the locals (a passion for anthropology don't you know). I know people who say they have visited places, but really they have been to an all inclusive tourist resort, which is as far removed from visiting a country as watching a documentary about that country on TV!
Oh, and being of mixed race (Caucasian and Jewish) made it interesting in Morocco (if you have Jewish ancestry I don't recommend visiting an Arab country <g>), and being married to a Black woman made it VERY interesting in southern Florida!!!!! (not recommended for the faint hearted)

The Dutch are a travelsome nation. You find tourists all over the globe, but some of those tourists will inevitably be Dutch. Whether on top of the Himalayas or at the Southern tip of Tasmania - Dutch tourists are everywhere.
Lotus07, keep the tradition going! By the time you have reached 50, like me, your list will look like this (including some countries that no longer exist!):
Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany (including GDR), Denmark, UK (and Wales), France, Monaco, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic (also as Czechoslovakia), Slovakia, Poland, Russia (also as USSR), Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia (when they were still part of the USSR), Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Turkey
USA, Canada (Toronto only), Namibia, China, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia
This year adding Vietnam to the list, and maybe Iceland.

Haha, thanks for your reply! I like really like travelling though, exploring countries, meeting cultures, speaking foreign languages, I love it all! It's a shame I'm still a scholar, otherwise I'd be in foreign countries all the time! I'm planning to choose a study after highschool that involves travelling, I honestly love travelling. It's also my eager to know more about different countries that let me decide to collect worldcoins instead of playing computer games, playing soccer or whatever the average teenager does in his sparetime.

But too many places I dont feel safe travelling to..

If I could stop traveling to the same places I think I could reach 100 countries in 4-5 years, but my work and family keep me going to the same places...
I am writing from Kuwait at the moment and probably from China (New country) in 2-3 weeks time.
My kids are 2 and 1 years old and already they have been in 5 countries and traveled about 30/ 40 times in long haul flights...
I live in the US and I have been to Canada and I will be going to the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos in May.
In the next few years I have UK, Ukraine, and possible Romania in my radar and I have really wanted to visit South Korea since I was 11.
I would love to live in Australia or New Zealand and want to visit South Africa, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Kosovo, Greece, Turkey, Chile, Falkland Islands, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and many more nations.
"To travel is to live" - that´s the motto I have in my home-office.
I love to travel, let´s see - I count 42, though probably I forgot any - most in Europe.
Europe: Portugal (including Azores and Madeira), Spain (also including islands), France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland, UK (including NIR, EN and Wales and Gibraltar - missing Scotland yet, and channel islands), Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Romania, Slovenia, Austria, Macedonia, Serbia (including Vojvodina, Kosovo), Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia (also Rep. Sprska), Bulgaria, Cyprus, Malta, Czech Rep, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Switzerland, Hungary, Greece, Turkey.
Small/disputed ones: Kosovo (also got a passport stamp "annulée" at the Serbian border), Northern Cyprus (got stamp on my passport!), Vatican, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco
In Europe: only missing Iceland, Slovakia, Albania, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Russia.
Out of europe: Morocco (ohhh and next week I will be at the apparently disputed Western Sahara!) and India.
Still a whole world to travel, but due to visas, work duties (unfortunately I barely did not travelled on work) and finantial balance, I cannot afford to travel 356 days a year and I am still 30yrs :)
In my long-term non-affordable plans - although very "mainstream" destinations, so usually out of my focus:
1) Do a transsiberian route by train, or
2) the silk route as a backpacker;
3) do the route 66 by car;
4) make a cruise all over to Galapagos;
5) make a 3 months south-american tour.

I'd like to do this for the current discussion plus a record of all the countries of people I've swapped coins with.

Lol, not really.
At first I was thinking of to have a map which outlined the states in the US and the states and provinces in Canada, but then I decided to just have them blank, like the rest of the world.
And according to Denmark, I've been in Denmark and the Faroe Islands - which is marked as well. But no, I haven't been on Bornholm or any of the small islands in the Danish archipelago.

Im gunna include Scotland as a separate country for my list:p
I'm English so I've been to:
Scotland, London (private joke southerners will get) Portugal both mainland and Madeira & Spain both mainland and fuerteventura.
To begin, 4 school travels : 1 in UK (England), 1 in Spain and 2 in Italy .
To follow, 3 other countries for holidays or 1-day visits: Monaco, Germany (except Europa-Park, only 1 visit) and Luxembourg (several times, not only for fun)
To end, the only time I lived a few months abroad: Czech Republic.
I wouldn't count transit countries (Switzerland as sleeping in EuroNight trains to Italy, and travels to Czech Republic by Germany and/or Luxembourg, and Monaco again by train as a regional train stop in Monte-Carlo).

I have visited 54 different countries. Most of them many years ago when I worked in the Middle East. They are as follows. Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Hungary, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Albania, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, Ethiopia, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Tuvalu, Soloman Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Western Samoa, Vatican City. I have not included countries where I was only in an airport and did not go through customs. At the time I collected coins and notes from many of the countries that I visited. I sold all these off many years ago to pay for a house. I have started a new collection--much more modest. Sadly many of the countries have not fared well in the years since I saw them (such as Syria and Yemen). I have worked in 4 countries: Canada, United States, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. I feel fortunate that was able to see these countries (and that I saw some of effects of the Iron Curtain countries before the wall fell).
Less than I want:
Slovakia, Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, Italy, Greece. I lived 2 years in the United Arab Emirates -once on the road to Abu Dhabi, I had a transfer in Belgrade, but I don't count this If my job interview is going well next week, I could add Germany to the list on the summer :)
If we're using the FIFA definition of a country, I have:
USA, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, Cayman Islands, Iceland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, Belgium, France and Spain
Ireland, US, Finland, France, Spain, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Portugal, Malta, Cyprus, Greece, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Danmark, Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Belgium, St. Lucia, Barbados, Netherlands, All parts of UK and Northern Ireland.
Germany, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, San Marino, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Luxemburg, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, UK (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland), Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Malta, Gibraltar, Turkey, Morocco, US, Canada, UAE, Oman, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Hongkong, Macau, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan.
Two little specials: Yugoslavia in the early 90s, would now be Croatia, have never been there again ever since.
North Korea: been to Panmunjeom from Seoul, where you get to go into those blue buildings directly on the boarder and be indeed some few meters into North Korea, of course without passport stamp, etc.
in the end everything will be good - if it's not good, then it's not the end...

6 of the countries and territories I've visited more than once.
9 of the countries I've traveled to by airplane.

Poverty, covid and my partners poor health and death ensured I did no travelling outside New Zealand at all since 2013.
However 2023 I have been to Christchurch twice and Rotorua once. I did not leave Auckland or nearby Waikato at all in 2020 and 2022 (Covid restricted travel completely between Mar - Jun 2020 and Aug - Dec 2021).
In June 2021 I went down to Christchurch (700km, inter island airflight) for a week between lockdowns.
I have been to Australia 7 times, in Jan 2006, Feb 2007, Oct 2008, Aug 2010, Mar 2011, May 2012 and Oct 2013.

I'm out travelling now. Been in Singapore a few days and today I arrived in Brunei. 😊
Brunei - that is an interesting location. Is this business or holiday
It's holiday.
Our original plan was to go to Morocco, but because of the earthquake we had to change our plans. So we booked a spontaneous trip to Singapore. Then my wife mentioned "Brunei" out of nowhere. Well, why not? 😁
Now we have four days here before we fly back to Singapore and travel north to Malaysia where we'll stay for a few days, and then we go back to Singapore to catch a boat to Indonesia to spend a few of days before we fly back home. 😊
Make sure you savour the Malyasian delicacies - especially the Rendang chicken& Asam Laksa.
Singapore has this cool street food area - Newton Circus, do visit this place. Great for sea food.
We visited Morocco in June - great culture & cuisine. Very friendly people and loved the delights of Marrakech markets.
Hope they recover soon from the devastation.
We did visit Newton Circus and had like four different dishes from different stalls. Amazing food! Didn't find any ayam laksa there, but I had some yesterday at a food market here in Brunei (where the prices are like half from Singapore). It was really good! 😋
After all, we are on a food trip, so we are going to try everything we can get our hands on. 😁
My mouth is drooling with saliva, but for those street foods you mentioned.
While in Malaysia, try eating durians and mongostees, the king and queen of fruit respectively. In this country, some supermarkets sell those small size mongostee for $1 each.
If you fancy cold desserts, try ice kacang. If you can get them, try sotong and kangkung (sutterfish and water spinach served with curry sauce), and popiah (Chinese/Malaysian spring roll).
Hi! As a kid, we were poor, so i was just traveling trough my homeland czechia. But now i love traveling. I didnt visit much countries but still, grab my camera and lets go film with my friends traveling. Here are the countries i have been.
Croatia 🇭🇷 - 6 years ago
Slovenia 🇸🇮 - 4 years ago
Poland 🇵🇱 - This summer
UK 🇬🇧 - Last year
Slovakia 🇸🇰 - 4 years ago
Austria 🇦🇹 - 4 years ago
Hungary 🇭🇺 - 4 years ago
Germany 🇩🇪 - 8 years ago - On April going for 1200km journey on bike to Hambourg!

I went to punta Cana, Dominican Republic. my first foray into the Caribbean and that country. However it was a very short 3 day trip and I never left the all inclusive resort. So I’m a little hesitant to say I visited the city or the country. I could have been in any very well manicured tropical paradise!
Canada (Ontario, Québec), USA (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Virginia, North & South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming), also Puerto Rico (US Territory). Never have been off the continent, unfortunately.
