The Theme Set of the Royal Dutch Mint is entirely devoted to the Royal Family. This special coin set is issued annually and celebrates the milestones in the lives of the members of the Royal family. Weddings, state visits, special public appearances, crown anniversaries and births are all featured in this very popular issue among collectors.
Theme Set 2022
In 2022, a special milestone is celebrated: King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are married for 20 years. They got married on February 2nd 2002, in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Immediately afterwards, the church wedding ceremony took place on the other side of the Dam Square, in the Nieuwe Kerk. The wedding ceremony could count on a lot of enthusiasm, just as the ride through the city center with the Gouden Koets and the now famous balcony scene with ‘the kiss’. To celebrate this festive jubilee, the Theme Set 2022 is all about the marriage of our King and Queen.
Design
In this stylish packaging of the Theme Set 2022 you will read more about the marriage of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. The theme ‘a porcelain marriage’ is continued in the design. The trilogy packaging has a front side with two photos. One of the King and Queen on their wedding day and a photo of the Royal couple 20 years later.
Besides the eight Dutch euro coins of 2022, the set also contains a special medal. The medal shows the royal monogram of the initials of both King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. Above the symbol is a crown and on top of that you will see the date of the jubilee: 02-02-2022. On the bottom of the medal is the text ‘A porcelain marriage’. The front side shows an image of the Royal Couple. Below is a ribbon with the inscription '20 jaar koninklijk huwelijk' and some flowers. The medal is a special memory of a festive jubilee!
